New Appointment and Expansion for Kestrel Scotland

New Appointment and Expansion for Kestrel Scotland

Kestrel is delighted to announce the new appointment of Jim Porteous as General Manager for Scotland.

Jim joins us having progressed through many well known shipping lines and liner agencies, including most recently a long and successful career as General Manager Commercial at Geest Line Ltd.  Jim’s experience spans all aspects of the shipping industry from Commercial, Sales, Tariffs, Customer Service, Contract Negotiation, Documentation, Logistics, Ship Scheduling and Operations.

With over 40 years experience Jim is the perfect fit to run our Scottish operation and will be based at his home on the Isle of Islay, Argyll from where he will run all of Kestrel’s activities in this region. He will be liaising directly with our existing Scottish client base and working on the expansion of the Kestrel services and network.  His responsibilities will cover selling all services for the Kestrel Group and to spearhead the creation of Kestrel’s new regional head office which will be based on the mainland.

Kestrel provides breakbulk services to the Oil and Gas industry as agents for UAL with 2 services a month from Europe to West Africa and providing full logistics solutions including on port services in West Africa at UAL’s own Oil Base Free Zone K5.    In addition Kestrel is unique in providing both breakbulk and out of gauge cargo and  also both FCL and LCL services through excellent liner agency representation that mean we provide a truly global service.  We represent more Lines than any other UK liner agency – including Geest Line’s Scottish Agency -  and our ethics of superlative customer service coupled with true industry expertise make Kestrel the Number One choice for shippers and forwarders alike.
