Kestrel Liner Agencies appointed USA, Africa and European General Agent for Carpenters Shipping

  • Serving Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu
  • Weekly service from USA, East and South Africa, Europe and Mediterranean
  • Multi-Purpose Combi Vessels
  • Geared vessels with heavy lift capability

Kestrel Liner Agencies are delighted to announce that they have been appointed as General Agents in Africa, USA and Europe for Carpenters Shipping and are now able to offer a weekly shipping service to Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

This new extended service is available for containers, breakbulk and project cargo and is an exciting opportunity for both companies, as serving these areas has been particularly difficult and poorly served until now.

Carpenters, who is already well established in Asia and the Pacific, have been serving these niche markets since 2010.

In 2014, the company expanded to offer a direct service connecting China and Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.

Kestrel is recognised as the specialist liner agency company for niche markets, and already represents many of the world’s top niche carriers.

Andy Thorne, Group Chairman of Kestrel, which has offices in UK, Ireland, USA, Caribbean and Africa said “We are expanding our liner agency business through organic growth, and are delighted that Carpenters have chosen to partner with us.”

“They have a phenomenal name in the Pacific Island Trade and working with them to expand their service to cover Europe and UK is extremely exciting. PNG is developing quickly and our industry knowledge of the mining and oil and gas sectors will expand our service offering to our clients.”

Continuing he said “Mining is a key industry in Papua New Guinea and we have been involved in transporting several heavy lift cargos.”

The PNG economy continues to grow with a positive trade balance, the developing mining industry (in 2014 PNG exported $1.73B in gold) has seen the demand for excavators, Dumpers and into market vehicles increase. Annually PNG has seen its imports increase by 9.6%.

Carpenters prides itself on its reputation for customer service. “Our customers’ needs are always in the forefront of our thoughts and our modest size allows us to give our customers the more traditional personalised shipping service they deserve.”

Kestrel is a great partner for Carpenter Shipping, the market leader who accepts nothing less than superlative customer service as the Standard.
