Here is the latest news in our support of St Vincent and The Grenadines Sailing.
Six sailing boats that spent more than 25 years in storage at a British Army base have been shipped to St. Vincent and the Grenadines and delivered to the Grenadine islands of Canouan, Mayreau and Union Island, where they will help support and develop sailing opportunities for local communities.
The project was made possible through the generosity and commitment of Kestrel.
Kestrel has been involved since the inception of the club - shipping out discarded boats as we have found them, sending items one by one when we have space.
Jenny Trumble founded the club on moving to St Vincent, her mother had been heavily involved in sailing in the UK.
We had a vision to give young people the opportunity to learn valuable skills that could one day save lives through strong swimming abilities and a better understanding of boats. We also wanted to create pathways for them to compete locally and, perhaps, even on the international stage, while opening doors to future careers in the yachting and tourism industries.
We could never have expected to have wins at inter Caribbean level, wins in the USA, and two youngsters Kai and Scarlett qualified for the Olympics.
Designed to take children from all communities and give them a better chance in life, this part of our philanthropic work is a shining example of what can be achieved.
